Position Requirements
In this role, you will drive the team's test automation strategy and framework architecture. You will shape robust CI/CD pipelines, improve their reliability and design, and embed quality into every stage of delivery. Partnering with DevOps and engineering leadership, you’ll influence release strategy while mentoring engineers and elevating overall testing excellence. Responsibilities • Define test automation strategy and framework architecture across the team to improve end-to-end test reliability and delivery speed, collaborating closely with engineers who implement automated tests in Cypress and pytest • Drive ownership of test quality and pipeline robustness by reviewing and optimizing automated test suites written in Cypress and/or pytest, ensuring they effectively reduce risk and accelerate feedback cycles in CI/CD pipelines • Collaborate with engineering and pipeline stakeholders to advise on CI/CD pipeline design and reliability improvements, integrating automated tests built with Cypress and pytest into robust, scalable workflows • Review code quality for automated tests written in Cypress and/or pytest across the team, enforcing consistent standards, maintainability, and alignment with the defined automation strategy • Advise on CI/CD pipeline design to enhance reliability, performance, and observability of test execution, ensuring that automated tests are efficiently orchestrated and reported • Lead root-cause analysis on systemic CI/CD pipeline failures and automated test reliability issues, using insights to drive corrective actions and long-term process improvements • Drive adoption of shift-left testing practices by promoting earlier integration of Cypress and pytest-based automated tests into development workflows, reducing late-stage defects and rework
Selling Points
Responsibilities • Enable risk-based testing by defining strategies that prioritize test coverage and automation efforts according to business impact and failure probability, optimizing resource allocation across the team • Establish test data management strategy at scale, defining approaches for provisioning, maintaining, and reusing test data to support reliable and repeatable automated test execution • Define and manage test environment strategy, ensuring consistent, scalable environments that support Cypress and pytest test runs and maintain high fidelity to production conditions • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers by providing guidance on CI/CD pipeline configurations, test automation patterns in Cypress and pytest, and overall quality engineering best practices • Review pipeline and automation designs created by junior and mid-level engineers, offering actionable feedback to strengthen robustness, maintainability, and alignment with the team’s testing strategy Requirements • Strong knowledge of test automation and QA engineering with 6+ years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining automated testing solutions • Deep, hands-on experience architecting and maintaining large-scale test suites using Cypress and/or pytest for web and API testing • Practical experience with CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or ArgoCD, including pipeline design, test integration, and release orchestration • Expert-level programming skills in Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go, with strong knowledge of object-oriented programming principles and clean-code practices • Proven experience architecting robust, scalable automation frameworks from scratch using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, REST Assured, pytest, JUnit, or TestNG • Strong command of modern test strategy concepts, including the testing pyramid, shift-left testing, risk-based testing, and coverage strategy
Team Description
Requirements • Advanced experience with designing automated test suites that integrate seamlessly into CI/CD workflows and support continuous testing at scale • Practical experience with cross-functional collaboration to define testability requirements, quality gates, and automation priorities within DevOps-oriented teams • Demonstrated experience mentoring engineers, providing technical guidance, and setting technical direction for test automation initiatives • Strong communication skills for explaining test automation and CI/CD concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Collaborative working style with the ability to partner effectively with development, DevOps, and product teams in a distributed environment • Analytical and solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills in diagnosing test flakiness, pipeline failures, and quality bottlenecks • Advanced experience with Playwright-based test automation in complex web application environments (nice-to-have) • Practical experience with Go-based test automation frameworks and tooling (nice-to-have)
