Job description

Location: India
Department: Security & IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Architect, Cloud Site Reliability (SRE) based in India.

The Architect, Cloud Site Reliability (SRE) will lead the design and evolution of resilient, secure, high-performance cloud infrastructure supporting mission-critical SaaS applications. This senior technical leadership role focuses primarily on Microsoft Azure while leveraging AWS and Google Cloud Platform to deliver scalable, reliable, and cost-efficient solutions. You will guide complex cloud initiatives from proof of concept through production deployment, ensuring strong operational practices and seamless execution across engineering, security, and SRE teams. The role emphasizes Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), automation, observability, disaster recovery, and proactive incident prevention. You will also drive cloud security, data protection, performance optimization, and FinOps initiatives. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will help strengthen platform reliability, accelerate innovation, and continuously improve the customer experience in a dynamic, 24/7 environment

Accountabilities

    • Architect and lead large-scale cloud infrastructure initiatives that improve scalability, performance, availability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency across Azure, AWS, and GCP.

    • Own end-to-end project delivery, from technical evaluation and proof of concept to architecture, implementation, production rollout, and operational handover.

    • Lead technical execution across complex projects, managing scope, milestones, dependencies, risks, and collaboration among Product Engineering, SRE, Security, and other stakeholders.

    • Provide technical leadership for mission-critical, 24/7 multi-cloud environments, maintaining operational stability, resilience, and continuous service improvement.

    • Advance observability, telemetry, automation, self-healing capabilities, and proactive incident prevention to strengthen reliability and reduce production issues.

    • Evaluate and implement cloud-native technologies and modern architectures that improve platform agility, scalability, performance, and infrastructure efficiency.

    • Design and implement cloud security and data protection solutions, including encryption at rest and in transit, Azure Key Vault, Customer-Managed Keys (CMK), Bring Your Own Key (BYOK), key rotation, certificate management, and encryption across Azure services.

    • Lead application and infrastructure performance analysis, troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root-cause investigations, and drive end-to-end cloud cost optimization through FinOps practices.

    • Partner with Microsoft, Amazon, and Google to assess emerging technologies, optimize cloud services, resolve technical challenges, and support innovation.

    • Collaborate with internal and external customers to resolve critical reliability, performance, security, and operational issues while strengthening knowledge management and continuous improvement practices.

    • Design and maintain highly available, secure, scalable, self-healing, and disaster-recovery-ready AKS workloads, with an emphasis on zero-downtime operations.

    • Requirements:

      • Experience and leadership: 12–15+ years of experience in mission-critical, 24/7 Cloud Operations or SRE teams within B2B or B2C SaaS organizations.

      • Proven experience designing and implementing large-scale cloud solutions, primarily on Microsoft Azure, with additional experience across AWS and GCP.

      • Demonstrated ability to lead large teams in complex, fast-changing operational environments and coordinate delivery across multiple technical and business stakeholders.

      • Strong customer focus, analytical thinking, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to meet service-level agreements and deadlines while delivering results under pressure.

      • Ability to simplify complex technical challenges, develop innovative solutions and workarounds, and adapt effectively in agile environments.

      • Cloud, systems, and networking: Strong architecture knowledge across Linux and Windows systems, SQL databases, compute, storage, and cloud networking.

      • Hands-on Windows and Linux administration and troubleshooting, including compute, memory, storage, processes, services, networking, and kernel or system-level issues.

      • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, SSH, firewalls, certificates, permissions, system hardening, SQL database administration, and network administration.

      • Experience managing systems at scale, including patching, vulnerability remediation, operating system upgrades, configuration management, and performance optimization.

      • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Bash/Shell, or Python.

      • AKS and Kubernetes: Extensive hands-on experience designing, deploying, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting large-scale production AKS/Kubernetes environments.

      • Strong Linux administration skills across Ubuntu and RHEL, including containerized environments.

      • Practical experience with Docker, container images, Dockerfiles, Azure Container Registry (ACR), and container security.

      • In-depth Kubernetes expertise across workloads, Services, Ingress, ConfigMaps, Secrets, StatefulSets, DaemonSets, Jobs/CronJobs, Namespaces, scheduling, probes, Pod Disruption Budgets (PDBs), Horizontal Pod Autoscaling (HPA), and Cluster Autoscaler.

      • Strong AKS networking and security expertise, including Azure CNI, IP and subnet planning, Network Policies, Network Security Groups (NSGs), User Defined Routes (UDRs), Load Balancers, DNS, ingress and egress, private clusters, RBAC, Azure RBAC, Managed Identity, and Workload Identity.

      • Experience with AKS node pools, virtual machine sizing, availability zones, workload placement, autoscaling, capacity planning, and resource requests and limits.

      • Hands-on experience monitoring and troubleshooting AKS environments using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Datadog.

      • Proven ability to design highly available, self-healing, scalable, secure, zero-downtime, and disaster recovery solutions for business-critical AKS workloads.

      • A bachelor's degree is listed as the expected education level.

      • Benefits:

        • Work arrangement: Remote position based in India.

        • Employment type: Full-time role with a general work shift.

        • Technical impact: Opportunity to shape multi-cloud architecture, cloud reliability, security, automation, and infrastructure optimization for mission-critical SaaS services.

        • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with engineering, security, SRE, customer-facing teams, and major cloud technology providers.

        • Compensation and additional benefits: Salary range, healthcare coverage, paid leave, retirement benefits, bonuses, and other specific perks are not detailed in the provided job description.
