L2 Lead Engineer - On-Premises Hosting (Windows & Linux)

Role: L2 Lead Engineer On-Premises Hosting (Windows & Linux) Location: Gurugram, India (Hybrid: 2 days per week onsite) Shift: 24x7 Rotational Shifts Notice Period: Immediate (Join by October 15, 2026) Job Overview: We are seeking an experienced L2 Lead Engineer to manage, maintain, and support enterprise on-premises server infrastructure across Windows and Linux/Unix environments. This role is responsible for 24x7 production break-fix operations, remote hardware triage, monthly patching, filesystem management, and hypervisor maintenance. Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver end-to-end L2 incident and service request resolution from escalation to closure using ServiceNow.
• Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux/Unix environments in a 24x7 production setup.
• Perform bare-metal hardware triage using remote consoles including iDRAC, iLO/ILOM, and HMC; coordinate part dispatch and hardware replacements with OEM vendors.
• Manage VMware virtual environments, including virtual machine provisioning, deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning.
• Execute Unix/Linux filesystem and storage administration covering LVM, RAID arrays, quotas, and NFS exports/mounts.
• Conduct monthly enterprise OS patch rollouts and remediate urgent zero-day vulnerabilities in adherence to security baselines.
• Manage server access control, user authentication integrations (VAS, NIS, Active Directory), and audit compliance agents such as Tanium.
• Participate in root-cause analysis (RCA), Defect Elimination Plans (DEP), standard operating procedure (SOP) documentation, and knowledge-base maintenance.
• Assist in cross-tower troubleshooting with Database, Network, Security, and Cloud engineering teams.
• Support disaster recovery (DR) drill execution, failover tests, and basic compute provisioning across hybrid cloud platforms (AWS / Azure).

Mandatory Qualifications & Technical Skills:

• 10 to 12 years of hands-on L2 infrastructure operations experience in enterprise hosting environments.
• Proven expertise in dual-OS server administration (Windows Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux / CentOS / Unix).
• Hands-on proficiency with VMware vSphere/ESXi and remote console management (iDRAC / iLO).
• Deep understanding of storage and volume management (LVM, RAID, NFS).
• Direct experience handling monthly patching cycles, OS hardening, and ITIL processes within ServiceNow.
• Scripting capability in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ansible is advantageous.
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Microsoft Windows Server certification preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
