The total annual cost to the employer — includes everything paid on your behalf including employer PF, gratuity, insurance, and all allowances. This is the number companies quote in offer letters.
Example: CTC ₹12L/year may include ₹72K employer PF + ₹28K gratuity that you never directly receive monthly.
Your total monthly salary before employee deductions — after removing employer PF and gratuity from CTC. This is what your salary slip shows as the total before deductions.
Example: Gross ₹85,000/month = Basic ₹40K + HRA ₹20K + Special Allowance ₹25K.
The actual amount credited to your bank account every month — after employee PF, ESI, TDS (income tax), and professional tax are deducted from gross salary.
Example: Gross ₹85K − PF ₹4,800 − TDS ₹8,200 − PT ₹200 = In-Hand ~₹71,800.
