Job description

Azure Cloud DevOps Lead

Experience: 5 - 8 years | Location: Mumbai | Industry: Banking / Financial Services preferred

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on Azure Cloud DevOps Lead to build and run a secure, scalable, cost-efficient Azure platform for mission-critical banking applications. You'll own cloud architecture, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, AKS, DevSecOps, observability and cost optimisation. You'll also lead a team of DevOps, platform and SRE engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Azure architecture: Design landing zones, management groups, subscriptions and governance (Azure Policy, tagging, resource locks). Build hub-and-spoke networking with Private Link, Azure Firewall, ExpressRoute and VPN. Deliver HA/DR across Availability Zones and regions.
  • CI/CD: Build reusable YAML pipeline templates in Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions for Java/Spring Boot microservices. Embed security gates, controlled artifact promotion, and blue-green/canary deployments. Enforce approvals, rollback and segregation of duties.
  • Infrastructure as Code: Establish Terraform/Bicep standards and reusable modules. Implement state management, drift detection and policy-as-code. Enable self-service provisioning for application teams.
  • AKS platform: Design and operate AKS clusters, covering node pools, ingress, workload identity, autoscaling, network policies and upgrades. Use ACR with image scanning, Helm and GitOps. Build golden paths for developers.
  • DevSecOps: Implement least-privilege access with Entra ID, RBAC, managed identities and Key Vault. Use Defender for Cloud and Containers for posture management. Ensure encryption, audit trails and compliance evidence for regulators and auditors.
  • Observability and SRE: Build monitoring with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, App Insights, Managed Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry. Define SLOs, lead incident response and RCA, and validate RTO/RPO.
  • FinOps: Drive cost visibility, budgets, rightsizing, autoscaling and cleanup automation. Report savings and forecasts to leadership.
  • Leadership: Mentor the team, set engineering standards, lead design reviews and complex troubleshooting, and work across application, security, database and operations teams.

Must-Have Skills

  • Production experience with Azure: networking, landing zones, governance and Key Vault
  • AKS/Kubernetes, Docker, Helm and ACR
  • Terraform and/or Bicep, plus Python, PowerShell or Bash
  • Azure DevOps Pipelines and/or GitHub Actions at enterprise scale
  • Entra ID, RBAC, Defender for Cloud and secure deployment practices
  • SRE practices: incident management, DR and high availability
  • Experience in a regulated environment, preferably banking or financial services, with awareness of RBI IT governance and outsourcing requirements

Good to Have

  • GitOps with Argo CD or Flux
  • Azure PaaS: Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Azure Managed Redis, Service Bus, Event Hubs, API Management
  • Kafka, API gateways and distributed systems patterns
  • Certifications: AZ-400, AZ-305, CKA, Terraform Associate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, IT or Engineering
  • 5-8 years in DevOps, cloud or platform engineering, with significant hands-on Azure production experience
  • Proven experience leading technical teams and setting engineering standards
