Job description

Location: India
Department: Finance & Accounting

Competitive USD pay, based on experience | 100% remote | Full-time contract

About the Opportunity

We’re hiring on behalf of a U.S.-based technology company developing advanced AI systems for financial modeling and investment decision-making. In this role, you’ll build financial models from a blank Excel sheet and walk through your reasoning step by step, showing how real investment and lending decisions get made.

Private equity modeling is our top priority, with credit and debt modeling close behind.

What You’ll Work On

  • Building PE, credit, and debt models from scratch in Excel (no templates)

  • Structuring transactions, assumptions, and key drivers

  • Linking the full model flow: operations → cash flow → debt → returns

  • Reviewing and debugging models built by others, spotting flawed assumptions, broken logic, and hidden risks

  • Explaining why a model works, not just what it outputs

Modeling Experience We’re Looking For

Private Equity / LBO

  • Sources & uses and transaction assumptions

  • Multi-tranche debt schedules (revolver, term loans, mezzanine, cash sweep)

  • Returns analysis: IRR, MOIC, value creation bridges

  • Operating models with sensitivities, downside cases, and exit scenarios

  • Add-ons, dividend recaps, or refinancings (a plus)

Credit / Debt

  • Covenant modeling (leverage, DSCR, interest coverage) and headroom testing

  • Downside and stress cases that drive a lending decision

  • Amortization, PIK, cash sweeps, and refinancing mechanics

  • Private credit / direct lending deal models

  • Recovery analysis and payment waterfalls

You’re a Strong Fit If You Have

  • 2–10 years in finance roles with heavy, hands-on modeling

  • Buy-side PE experience (deal diligence, portfolio company modeling, IC materials backed by your own models) – strongly preferred

  • Background in private equity, leveraged finance, sponsor coverage, private credit, direct lending, or credit underwriting

  • Models you built that drove real investment or lending decisions

  • Sharp attention to detail and strong written and spoken English

Who We’d Love to Hear From

PE professionals, leveraged finance and sponsor coverage bankers, and private credit / direct lending professionals. CFA, CA, MBA Finance, or equivalent backgrounds are welcome. Investment banking or corporate finance candidates will be considered only with top-tier backgrounds and hands-on LBO, debt, or credit modeling experience.

Hiring Process

Shortlisted candidates complete a ~3-hour take-home Excel modeling exercise, done independently and designed to mirror real-world deal work.
