Job description
The Opportunity: As R&D Industrialization Electrical Engineer, you will own the electrical industrialization of our next-generation power converter platforms. You will translate electrical designs into safe, cost-competitive, scalable and production-ready solutions for serial manufacturing, from engineering release through to stable production.
Based in Bangalore, you will work closely with R&D, Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Quality and Product Management teams locally and across our global organization. Your work will shape how our converters are wired, assembled, documented and built at scale.
This is a hands-on, on-site role with close involvement in prototypes, pilot builds and serial production, and occasional international travel depending on project and laboratory needs. If you enjoy turning complex electrical designs into robust products that factories can build right first time, we would like to hear from you.
How will you make impact:
Drive the electrical industrialization of new converter platforms from engineering release through stable serial production.
Translate electrical designs into robust, scalable and production-ready schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal plans, cable schedules, interconnection drawings and manufacturing instructions.
Create, structure and maintain accurate electrical bills of materials, ensuring consistency between electrical CAD, PLM, ERP, drawings and the as-built product.
Develop and optimize cable routing, harness architecture, cable lengths, terminal allocation, connectors and installation concepts to reduce assembly time, errors and cost.
Design and optimize copper and aluminium busbars, power cables and electrical connections for current capacity, clearances, thermal performance, manufacturability, assembly and serviceability.
Implement automated generation and validation of wiring lists, cable sheets, wire labels and other production deliverables using EPLAN P8, E3.series and related engineering tools.
Drive electrical standardization, part reuse, modularity, localization and value-engineering initiatives across products, assemblies and suppliers.
Support prototypes, pilot builds and serial production by resolving electrical manufacturing deviations, and coordinate engineering changes and production cut-in with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Service and suppliers, including training and knowledge transfer.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
Living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the business.
Your Background:
Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or an equivalent field.
At least 5 years of experience in electrical design, electrical industrialization or manufacturing engineering for complex industrial equipment, power converters or energy systems.
Advanced hands-on proficiency with EPLAN P8, E3.series or equivalent electrical CAD tools, with the ability to create and maintain complete production-ready electrical documentation packages.
Proven experience developing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, interconnection drawings, terminal plans and electrical bills of materials.
Strong practical knowledge of electrical cabinet assembly, cable routing, cable harnesses, terminals, connectors, grounding, auxiliary supplies and low-voltage power distribution.
Experience designing and optimizing copper and aluminium busbars, power cables and electrical connections for manufacturability, assembly, electrical performance and cost.
Experience with PLM and ERP systems, engineering change management, configuration control, component standardization and bill-of-materials maturity.
Background in power electronics, renewable energy, battery energy storage systems, low- or medium-voltage equipment or converter manufacturing, with fluent English and strong cross-functional problem-solving skills.
