Field Technician
Purpose of Job:
Field Technician for a Lab is responsible for on-site sample collection, performing field tests, and ensuring proper equipment setup and maintenance. They monitor field conditions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Additionally, they coordinate with lab teams to ensure timely and accurate analysis of field data.

The job reports to the
Internal interactions are with the Tech services, Projects, Purchase, Accounts & other departments on need basis.
External interactions are with Clients, Suppliers and Contractors.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct on-site testing and data collection for various projects, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
2. Install, configure, and calibrate laboratory instruments and equipment at field locations as required for testing.
3. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of field equipment to ensure proper functionality and minimize downtime.
4. Collect and prepare samples from field locations for laboratory analysis, ensuring proper storage and transportation.
5. Ensure all fieldwork complies with industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
6. Monitor and record environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.) at field sites to ensure accurate data collection.
7. Document and report any issues, malfunctions, or discrepancies observed in the field to the lab or supervisors.
8. Safely operate specialized field testing equipment such as pH meters, conductivity meters, or gas analyzers.
9. Offer technical assistance to field staff, clients, and lab teams to resolve issues related to equipment or testing procedures.
10. Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols when handling chemicals, equipment, and during field operations.
11. Provide training and guidance to other field personnel or new technicians on equipment use and proper field procedures.
12. Keep accurate records of field tests, equipment calibration, sample collection, and maintenance activities.
13. Analyze collected field data to identify trends, anomalies, or issues that require attention or further investigation.
14. Communicate regularly with lab teams to ensure timely and accurate analysis of field samples.
15. Travel to remote or challenging field sites to perform testing and equipment setup, often requiring long shifts.
