Job description

Location: India
Department: Security & IT

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Guidewire QA Engineer based in India.

We are looking for a detail-oriented Guidewire QA Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of enterprise insurance applications. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for testing Guidewire InsuranceSuite solutions, including PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter, across various business processes and application workflows. You will design and execute comprehensive test strategies covering functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing. Working closely with developers, business analysts, and business stakeholders, you will identify defects, validate fixes, and ensure applications meet business and technical requirements. You will also contribute to API testing, test automation initiatives, and continuous quality improvement throughout the software development lifecycle. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QA professional to contribute to reliable insurance technology solutions within a collaborative Agile environment.

Accountabilities:

  • Test Planning and Execution: Develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for Guidewire applications. Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet business and technical requirements.
  • Guidewire Application Testing: Validate configurations, business rules, workflows, and application functionality across Guidewire InsuranceSuite modules, including PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and BillingCenter. Test end-to-end business processes and verify application behaviour against defined requirements.
  • Requirements Analysis and Test Coverage: Analyze business and technical specifications to identify testing requirements and design effective test scenarios. Ensure adequate test coverage and document execution results to validate application functionality and reliability.
  • Data Validation and Consistency: Verify the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across Guidewire components and integrated enterprise systems. Use SQL queries to support database testing and investigate data-related discrepancies.
  • API and Integration Testing: Perform API testing using tools such as Postman and SOAP UI. Validate REST APIs and SOAP web services, ensuring reliable communication and accurate data exchange between Guidewire applications and external systems. Investigate integration failures and collaborate with developers to verify corrective solutions.
  • Defect Management and Quality Assurance: Identify, document, track, and retest software defects using tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or ALM. Participate in defect triage, collaborate on root cause analysis, and ensure issues are resolved within agreed timelines.
  • Quality Reporting and Documentation: Prepare test execution reports, defect summaries, quality metrics, and supporting documentation. Maintain clear records of test scenarios, results, and identified issues throughout the testing lifecycle.
  • Test Automation and Optimization: Support test automation initiatives by identifying repetitive testing activities suitable for automation. Work with frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or TestNG to improve testing efficiency and regression coverage.
  • CI/CD and Continuous Improvement: Support the integration of testing activities into CI/CD pipelines where applicable. Recommend improvements to testing strategies, automation frameworks, quality processes, and overall software reliability.
  • Agile Collaboration: Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Requirements:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in software testing or quality assurance.
  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience testing Guidewire InsuranceSuite applications.
  • Practical experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, and/or BillingCenter.
  • Strong understanding of manual testing, functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, system testing, and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute test cases, test scripts, and comprehensive testing scenarios.
  • Experience validating Guidewire configurations, business rules, workflows, and end-to-end application processes.
  • Hands-on experience with API testing and application integration validation.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs and SOAP-based web services, preferably using Postman, SOAP UI, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to write and execute SQL queries for database testing and data validation.
  • Familiarity with defect tracking and management platforms such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or ALM.
  • Good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC).
  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum development environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or TestNG is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Java and automation testing principles is beneficial.
  • Exposure to the Guidewire Cloud Platform and cloud-based testing practices is preferred.
  • Understanding of Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance processes and business workflows is desirable.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps is an advantage.
  • Guidewire Associate or Specialist certification is considered a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate defects and troubleshoot complex application issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document testing activities and communicate technical findings clearly.
  • High attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to identifying quality improvements.
  • Benefits:

  • Employment type: Full-time position.
  • Work arrangement: Fully remote opportunity, based in India.
  • Professional development: Opportunity to deepen expertise in Guidewire InsuranceSuite and enterprise software quality assurance.
  • Technical exposure: Hands-on experience with PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter, BillingCenter, API integrations, and modern testing frameworks.
  • Automation opportunities: Exposure to test automation technologies, including Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and TestNG.
