## Overview
The role is pivotal in software development activities and collaboration across the Strategy & Transformation (S&T) organization. Software Engineering is the cornerstone of scalable digital transformation across PepsiCo’s value chain. Work across the full stack, building highly scalable distributed solutions that enable positive user experiences. Build applied AI solutions (AI agents, RAG and document/vision/speech models) and use AI for engineering (coding and review agents) to accelerate delivery and quality.
The role requires to deliver the best possible software solutions, customer obsessed and ensure they are generating incremental value. The engineer is expected to work closely with the user experience, product, IT, and process engineering teams to develop new products and prioritize deliver solutions across S&T core priorities.
## Responsibilities
Support the vision and guide a team of engineers to build and support digital products and services (DPS) across S&T core priorities
Drive partnerships with User Experience, Product Management, IT, Data & Analytics, Emerging Tech, Innovation, and Process Engineering teams to deliver the Digital Products portfolio
Develop software development strategy utilizing industry standards. Create roadmap and timing of implementation of the roadmap based on business requirements and strategy.
Lead multi-discipline, high-performance work teams distributed across remote locations effectively. Build, manage, develop, and mentor a team of engineers.
Interact with executives across the company to lead the narrative around software engineering
Develop and expand PSE capabilities through a customer obsessed, services-driven digital solutions platform that leverages data and AI to deliver automated and personalized experiences
Manage and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, risks, issues, and changes tied to the engineering initiatives to the stakeholders
Interact with key business partners to recommend solutions that best meet the strategic needs of the business
## Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field
8+ years of relevant software development.
Commanding knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
Strong system design fundamentals with a focus on performance and extensibility, and experience building distributed scalable systems.
Expertise in Java and its related technologies. Restful or GraphQL API (preferred) experience.
Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React or React Native or related frameworks.
Experience developing iOS and/or Android mobile apps.
Experience with large scale messaging systems such as Kafka is a bonus.
Hands on experience with any cloud platform such as AWS or GCP or Azure (preferred).
Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and Cosmos DB.
Experience with observability practices and tooling (logging, metrics, tracing and monitoring) for production systems.
AI for engineering: experience using coding agents and review agents, and optimizing token usage.
Applied AI: experience building AI agents and orchestration (LangGraph/LangChain/Langfuse), RAG, vector databases and embeddings.
Experience with OCR, vision/YOLO models, extraction models (LlamaParse/LlamaExtract or similar), speech-to-text (STT) and summarization; experience with on-device SLMs is a plus.
