Job Description: AI Developer About this position: At Xoriant, we are looking for an experienced AI Developer with strong backend engineering expertise to build, deploy, and operate production-grade AI-powered applications. In this role, you will combine your expertise in Python, distributed systems, API development, and cloud technologies with Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) integration to develop scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. You will design and implement LLM-powered applications using tool/function calling, agent orchestration, and AI engineering patterns, taking solutions from prototype to production. Job Type: Full Time Impact you will realize: Job Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance backend services and distributed systems using Python. Build and integrate REST APIs and microservices that enable reliable communication between applications, services, and AI-powered systems. Develop and deploy production-grade LLM-powered applications using tool/function calling, enabling AI agents to interact with APIs, query databases, and trigger workflows. Implement AI agent orchestration, prompt engineering, and LLM integration using OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source models. Design and optimize asynchronous processing, data stores, and backend workflows to support scalable application performance. Apply Generative AI engineering patterns, including embeddings, semantic search, and agent memory, to develop intelligent applications. Deploy and operate applications on cloud platforms, preferably AWS, while ensuring scalability, security, and reliability. Implement observability and monitoring mechanisms to assess application health, troubleshoot issues, and maintain production stability. Evaluate AI agent performance using relevant metrics, including tool-selection accuracy, task completion rates, and multi-step execution reliability. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions. Lead or mentor engineers, promote engineering best practices, and support knowledge sharing across teams. Explore emerging AI technologies, frameworks, and tools to continuously improve application capabilities and engineering efficiency. Key skills you will require: Primary Skills Python Development: Strong Python engineering skills, including asynchronous programming, API development using FastAPI or similar frameworks, and microservices architecture. Backend Engineering: Proven experience building and operating production-grade backend systems at scale, including distributed services, APIs, asynchronous processing, data stores, and observability. API Design and Integration: Strong experience designing, developing, and integrating secure, reliable, and scalable APIs that can be consumed by applications, services, and LLM-powered agents. AI/LLM Application Development: Hands-on experience taking at least one LLM-powered application to production, with practical implementation of tool/function calling and integration with APIs, databases, or business workflows. Generative AI Engineering: Working knowledge of prompt design, embeddings, semantic search, agent memory, and other relevant Generative AI engineering patterns. Database Technologies: Proficiency in SQL and experience working with databases and data storage solutions. Cloud Technologies: Experience with at least one cloud platform, preferably AWS. Experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) is also valuable. Distributed Systems: Strong understanding of distributed services, asynchronous processing, scalability, reliability, and production system operations. Production Support and Observability: Experience monitoring production applications, diagnosing issues, and improving system reliability using logs, metrics, traces, and observability tools. Technical Leadership: Experience leading or mentoring engineers, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Business and Analytical
Skills: Ability to translate technical requirements and engineering initiatives into measurable business value. Secondary Skills Model Context Protocol (MCP): Experience with MCP, building tool servers, or developing connectors for LLM agents. AI Agent Evaluation: Experience evaluating agent performance through tool-selection accuracy, task completion rates, and multi-step reasoning reliability. Model Fine-Tuning: Exposure to fine-tuning techniques such as LoRA, PEFT, or RLHF. Multimodal AI: Familiarity with multimodal models and their practical applications. Knowledge Graphs: Understanding of knowledge graphs and their use in AI-powered applications. MLOps Tools: Exposure to MLflow, Weights & Biases, Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, or similar MLOps and AI development platforms. Continuous Learning: Ability to learn new technical domains, evaluate emerging AI technologies, and adapt backend engineering expertise to evolving AI application requirements. Qualification you must require: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
