Job Description
Location: Hyderabad, India
Division: Analytical Instruments Group, Materials & Structural Analysis Division
Organization: Semiconductor R&D
About the team
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Materials and Structural Analysis Semiconductor R&D organization brings together around 400 engineers developing electron microscopy solutions and applications. Our global teams in Eindhoven, Brno, Hillsboro, Hyderabad, and Bordeaux combine expertise in hardware, software, and scientific applications to help customers make the world cleaner, healthier, and safer.
Within this organization, the Cortex value stream develops software for semiconductor data workflows, including tools to organize, explore, and visualize microscopy data. We’re looking for a Frontend Technical Lead to shape Cortex’s frontend architecture and guide a focused team delivering a consistent, scalable experience across our Core and Contributor applications.
How will you make an impact?
You’ll provide hands-on technical leadership for Cortex’s frontend, setting direction for its architecture, shared UI, and user experience. Working with product owners, designers, scientists, architects, and engineering teams across multiple sites, you’ll turn complex workflows and data into reliable, intuitive applications.
You’ll help establish frontend standards, guide design and code reviews, and support engineers across teams—including contributors working with technologies other than Angular. You’ll partner closely with backend technical leads on APIs and integration, while keeping frontend quality, performance, and usability central to delivery.
What will you do?
+ Own the Cortex frontend architecture and help ensure a consistent, scalable user experience across Core and Contributor applications.
+ Lead the design and development of key Cortex experiences, including Process Explorer, Tool Overview Dashboard, and File & Recipe UI.
+ Guide the evolution of the Cortex Shell, shared UI, component library, and design-system practices.
+ Define approaches for plugin integration and collaboration with contributor teams using different frontend technologies.
+ Lead integration of 2D and 3D viewers to support exploration and visualization of advanced microscopy datasets.
+ Set frontend standards for architecture, component design, state management, accessibility, maintainability, and performance.
+ Establish and evolve the frontend testing strategy, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
+ Develop and review Angular applications and shared components, and support Blazor interoperability where needed.
+ Integrate REST APIs and collaborate with backend technical leads on API design, data contracts, and end-to-end workflows.
+ Diagnose and resolve frontend defects and performance issues across applications and supported environments.
+ Work with product owners, scientists, designers, and engineering partners to refine requirements and deliver user-centered solutions.
+ Influence technical decisions across teams, facilitate design and code reviews, and mentor engineers through feedback and knowledge sharing.
+ Promote practices that improve code quality, test stability, maintainability, and the health of the software delivery process.
+ Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to improve productivity, quality, and delivery speed.
+ Learn the semiconductor domain and Cortex workflows, and test solutions in the environments used by the team, including virtual machines.
+ Regularly reflect with the team on how to improve collaboration and delivery.
You’ll be based in Hyderabad and report to the Functional Group Lead. The role is part of a distributed Agile Scrum team working with colleagues in Bordeaux, Hillsboro, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic.
How will you get here?
Education
+ Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Required experience and skills
+ Significant professional experience building and supporting frontend applications, including technical leadership or ownership of frontend architecture.
+ Expert-level experience with Angular and TypeScript.
+ Strong knowledge of JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and RxJS.
+ Experience designing component-based applications, shared UI libraries, and design systems.
+ Strong understanding of frontend architecture, state management, and REST API integration.
+ Experience improving frontend performance and diagnosing complex user-interface issues.
+ Experience defining or applying unit, integration, and end-to-end testing practices.
+ Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction, establish standards, and guide decisions across teams.
+ Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including the ability to work effectively across sites and disciplines.
+ A collaborative approach to mentoring, code and design reviews, and working with teams that use different technologies.
+ Strong UX sensitivity and an ability to translate complex workflows into clear, usable interfaces.
+ Excellent written and spoken English.
Preferred experience
+ Microfrontend or plugin architectures, Web Components, or other approaches to integrating independently developed applications.
+ Blazor interoperability or integration between Angular and .NET applications.
+ Authentication and authorization, real-time web applications, or visualization frameworks.
+ 2D or 3D viewers, scientific software, imaging, or data-intensive applications.
+ Experience with large datasets, distributed systems, or performance-sensitive user interfaces.
+ Familiarity with C#, .NET, Python, or enterprise data platforms.
+ Experience using AI tools in day-to-day software development.
+ Interest in semiconductor workflows, electron microscopy, or scientific research.
