INTL - QA Automation Engineer

Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to lead automated quality validation for a client's UHX modernization initiative.
This individual will ensure that the modernized .NET and React applications behave consistently with the existing VB6 applications while developing reusable automated regression coverage.
The QA Automation Engineer will be responsible for building the automation framework, analyzing existing application behaviour, documenting test scenarios, comparing legacy and modernized outputs, and validating complex application workflows.
The preferred automation technology is Selenium with C#. Experience with comparable technologies such as Playwright, TestComplete, or WinAppDriver may also be considered.
Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement the automation strategy for the modernization program.
• Develop and maintain automated tests using Selenium and C#.
• Analyze legacy VB6 application functionality and define regression scenarios.
• Validate functional equivalence between legacy and modernized functionality.
• Automate end-to-end business and engineering workflows.
• Develop UI, API, integration, system, and data-validation tests as appropriate.
• Validate replacements for legacy controls, including custom UserControls, ActiveX components, and third-party OCX controls.
• Develop automated comparisons between legacy and modernized application outputs.
• Validate application calculations, data transformations, business rules, and reporting outputs.
• Partner with the Heat Transfer SME to validate calculation-intensive engineering workflows.
• Perform regression testing throughout iterative migration activities.
• Identify test coverage gaps and recommend risk-based testing priorities.
• Participate in defect triage and root-cause analysis.
• Integrate automated tests with development and CI/CD pipelines where applicable.
• Establish quality metrics, release-readiness criteria, and testing reports.
• Maintain test data and supporting testing documentation.
• Work closely with developers to identify defects during development rather than relying solely on end-stage testing.
• Operate independently and proactively communicate quality risks.

Skills and Requirements
Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of Quality Assurance or software-testing experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on test-automation development experience.
• Strong Selenium automation experience.
• Strong C# and .NET automation capability.
• Experience designing automation frameworks rather than solely executing existing scripts.
• Strong experience with:

o Functional testing
o Regression testing
o Integration testing
o System testing
o User acceptance testing

• Experience validating complex enterprise application workflows.
• Strong SQL and data-validation capabilities.
• Experience testing user interfaces, APIs, services, and database integrations.
• Experience supporting software modernization or migration initiatives.
• Experience working alongside modern software-development teams.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently within a distributed delivery team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous VB6-to-.NET modernization experience.
• Experience with Playwright, WinAppDriver, TestComplete, or Appium.
• React UI-testing experience.
• Experience testing WinForms or WPF applications.
• Experience testing calculation-intensive engineering applications.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or a comparable CI/CD and test-management platform.
• Experience implementing automated comparison testing between legacy and replacement systems.
• Experience with visual regression testing.
• Experience establishing automated quality gates within CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience supporting aerospace, manufacturing, industrial, or engineering software.
