The Senior Atlassian Administrator will play a key role in managing, securing, and optimizing enterprise-wide Atlassian platforms in a complex, global technology environment. You will oversee the administration of Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence across both Cloud and Data Center/on-premises environments. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with platform governance, security, automation, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with engineering, IT, cybersecurity, and business teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-friendly solutions. You will also drive platform lifecycle management, integrations, upgrades, and migrations while ensuring compliance with enterprise standards. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of critical collaboration and service management platforms while contributing to operational excellence and digital transformation.

Accountabilities:

  • Administer and maintain Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence across Atlassian Cloud and Data Center/on-premises environments.
  • Configure and manage projects, spaces, workflows, screens, custom fields, permissions, notifications, issue types, service portals, queues, SLAs, and knowledge bases.
  • Monitor platform performance, availability, and overall health through regular maintenance, indexing, log reviews, capacity planning, and proactive troubleshooting.
  • Manage user accounts, groups, roles, and administrative privileges while enforcing least-privilege access and segregation-of-duties principles.
  • Oversee the lifecycle of Atlassian Marketplace applications, including evaluation, licensing, compatibility testing, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Establish and maintain platform governance standards covering project creation, naming conventions, ownership, permissions, data retention, and archiving.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, risk, privacy, and audit teams to implement security controls, support compliance reviews, and provide audit evidence.
  • Manage identity and access integrations, including SAML-based single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, SCIM provisioning, Entra ID, Active Directory, and LDAP.
  • Conduct regular access reviews and assess external sharing, anonymous access, application permissions, and potential data exposure risks.
  • Coordinate security patches, vulnerability remediation, certificate management, and platform hardening to maintain supported and secure environments.
  • Design and maintain automation rules, forms, templates, dashboards, filters, and reports to improve productivity and reduce manual processes.
  • Develop and support integrations with identity providers, service management platforms, development toolchains, and business applications using REST APIs, webhooks, and native connectors.
  • Plan and execute platform upgrades, application updates, configuration changes, and migrations in accordance with formal change-management procedures.
  • Support Cloud and Data Center migrations and consolidations, including discovery, data preparation, testing, validation, and production cutovers.
  • Maintain backup, restoration, and disaster recovery processes, ensuring recovery procedures are regularly reviewed and tested.
  • Manage incidents and service requests within agreed service levels, conduct root-cause analysis, and coordinate with infrastructure, database, network, and vendor teams.
  • Act as a trusted technical adviser to engineering, IT, product, project management, and business stakeholders, providing guidance and training to improve platform adoption.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, configuration records, operational runbooks, support procedures, and platform standards.
  • Analyze platform usage, licensing, performance, and support trends to identify opportunities for optimization, consolidation, automation, and cost reduction.
  • Requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience administering enterprise-level Atlassian environments, particularly Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
  • Proven experience supporting both Atlassian Cloud and Data Center/on-premises deployments within complex or global organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of Jira configuration, including workflows, schemes, custom fields, permissions, automation, dashboards, and reporting.
  • Practical experience managing Confluence spaces, permissions, templates, content governance, and lifecycle management.
  • Solid understanding of identity and access management, including SSO, SAML, SCIM, directory integrations, and role-based access control.
  • Experience planning and delivering platform upgrades, migrations, application changes, and technical releases in controlled production environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across application, operating system, database, proxy, network, and authentication layers.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, webhooks, and at least one scripting language, such as Groovy, Python, or PowerShell.
  • Experience with Atlassian Marketplace applications, application lifecycle management, and license optimization.
  • Strong documentation, analytical, problem-solving, and technical decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
  • A customer-focused mindset and the ability to balance user experience, security, governance, and long-term platform maintainability.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Atlassian certifications or equivalent demonstrated expertise in Jira administration and Atlassian Cloud/Data Center operations are advantageous.
  • Experience with Jira Service Management features such as Assets, forms, virtual agents, service catalogues, SLAs, and knowledge management is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian Guard, organization administration, cloud security policies, and managed accounts is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Linux, SQL databases, reverse proxies, TLS certificates, clustering, load balancing, and high-availability architectures is beneficial.
  • ITIL, Agile, DevOps, or formal change-management experience is considered an advantage.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard business hours for planned maintenance, major changes, critical incidents, or on-call escalations, depending on local arrangements.
  • Benefits:

  • Full-time employment opportunity.
  • Remote working arrangement, with the flexibility to work virtually from India.
  • Opportunity to manage and optimize enterprise-scale Atlassian platforms within a global technology environment.
  • Exposure to modern cloud technologies, enterprise infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Opportunities to collaborate with international engineering, IT, cybersecurity, and business teams.
